Koh Tarutao and into Malaysia!

We had no expectations of Tarutao but when we arrived it was exactly what we were looking for, an island still preserved as a national park, with one place to stay and one restaurant, which made decisions quite simple. Notice we were the only ones on the beach in the picture above. Here we met Greg and Lisa who we have been travelling with (they are the couple in the top backround photo that look strikingly similar to Sam and I) and having a great time with for the last week. A group of us hiked along the river to a beautiful waterfall deep in the jungle, and the group was very unique, as you can see in that top photo on a ride we hitched with some Thai workers on their way home. One night, all the girls went swimming in the ocean and the water was lit up with phosphorescence, it was amazing! Sam and I were supposed to head back up to Phuket to catch our flight to Singapore, where we catch our flight to Bali, but we ditched those plans in a spur of the moment decision before we had to catch our bus to Phuket and headed down to Malaysia with Lisa and Greg because we wanted to spend Christmas with friends and explore a new country. So, tomorrow at 6:30am we will begin our 15 hour journey on a bus back down to Singapore. Yesterday we rented a compact car that the four of us barely fit in (driving on the left here!) and went to another waterfall and explored the beaches here. Merry Christmas!!

alix this is an amazing photograph- good job sam!! you both are looking fantastic and i'm happy to hear your travels have been well worth it. i wish i could be there with you!! third wheel- sweeeeet. hahaha... i'm in LA now with the family, i'll be in santa cruz for new years with marisa and trev (going to see Sourgrass at Moe's alley!), and then i leave for Diamond Mountain on january 2nd or 3rd. i'll be driving with my dad through Vegas to visit his oldest and kind of odd brother who lives there, on to Tucson to visit another uncle, and after a breezy 2 hours east through the desert i'll arrive at my new home sweet home. i can't wait to get back down there and bask in the quiet simplicity that is the essence of the southwest. obviously we will be living Very different lives for the next few months, but at least in my experience- paradise is in your Mind!! so off to the desert i go =) for the first month i'll live in a house in town, then at the end of february i'll most likely be moving into a trailer! life is good in all aspects and it never ceases to amaze me. i look forward to your return, which will be around the time that i will be totally DONE with college and returning home to california! (but just for enough time to sweet alix off her feet and into a suitcase which i will haul down to arizona whether she or sam like it or not! muahahaha) but for now, sam- she's all yours so enjoy it while it lasts cuz she's mine in april. so there, patooi.
i love you both so much and am so grateful that you're actually posting stuff!! you're so much better at this than i am, and apparently Much better at fishing too- nice one sam! hook it up!

safe travels, merry christmas, happy new year, and ALL MY LOVE.

What a beautiful photo! I miss you so much dorkess, and I think of you very often! Christmas was great in my parents new house! Chris was able to be home for it so we spent it with both of our families. It has been great to hang out with Jimmy and Steven. Now I'm down in LA and feel like I can really just relax a bit! I'm looking forward to New Years! Got a new dress and everything! It feels strange not be able to just call you and chat! We will have to skype sometime! Now that I'm on break, it is time to do some wedding planning! I will keep you updated and please know how much I love you! Be safe and keep on having an excellent time :)
